United States Navy’s CVN-77 USS George HW Bush the tenth and final Nimitz-class nuclear-powered carrier set sail on her maiden deployment on May 11.
Two years to the day from being officially delivered to the United States Navy USS George HW Bush and her Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 2 left Norfolk, Virginia to conduct operations in the US Navy's 6th and 5th Fleet areas of responsibility.
The George HW Bush Strike Group consists of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 2, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 8, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 22 staff, USS George HW Bush (CVN-77), guided-missile cruisers USS Gettysburg (CG-64) and USS Anzio (CG-68), and guided-missile destroyers USS Truxtun (DDG-103) and USS Mitscher (DDG-57).
