On 29th of February two of the Bulgarian Navy helicopters AS565 MB Panther were shown to the Navy personnel, local authorities, government agencies and the journalists. The new helicopters belong to the Independent Naval Helicopter Air Base "Chayka" (Отделна морска вертолетнa авиобаза "Чайка") with commanding officer Lt Col Milen Hintolarski. Lt Col Hintolarski inform the audience with the main characteristics of the helicopters and answered the questions of the present journalists. The two shown Panthers were equipped for sea SAR mission (during last floods in Bulgaria Cougar helicopters of the Bulgarian Air force saved people from disaster in very harsh environment). The first Panther helicopter arrived in October 2011. The Navy helicopter air station trained six pilots and three winch operators to fly and operate the three AS565 MB helicopters. By the beginning of the summer the Navy helicopters will be fully operationally ready.
After the briefings AS565 MB Panther (reg. N 902) made one hour flight with some VIP personnel on board.
