A Kenya military helicopter crashed near Juja town on Monday evening during a routine training drill. The incident happened at 6 pm near the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
The pilot, co-pilot and a technician who were on board survived the accident and are receiving treatment at the Moi Forces Memorial hospital.
The three who included a Captain and a Lieutenant
The Russian made M117 helicopter developed a mechanical problem and crashed at around 6pm. The wreckage reportedly bursted into flames.
Kenya military spokesman Bogita Ongeri confirmed the accident.
“The crew was on normal routine training when it reported a mechanical problem. The crew jumped out after it touched the ground. It then burst into flames,” he said
