National Conference on Defense Policy and Investment

On 29 March 2011 Bulgarian MOD is organizing an important national conference dedicated to defense issues called “National Defense Policy and Defense Investment in the Second Decade of 21st century”. The “Atlantic” Association of the Officers in the Reserve acts as a co-organizer of the event. The conference is conducted in the Central Military Club in Sofia and is dedicated to Bulgarian membership in NATO. Bulgaria became a NATO member state 7 years ago.
The program for the conference features a number of distinguished speakers. The event was opened with an official address of welcome by Minister of Defense Anyo Anguelov. Among the participants in the conference are the Deputy Minister of Defense Mrs. Augustina Tzvetkova, the Deputy Chief of Defense Headquarters Vice Admiral Minko Kavaldzhiev, the Director of NATO C3 Agency Velizar Shalamanov, PhD, experts from MOD, representatives of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, officers from the Reserve.
The first panel of the conference is called “Defense Policy, Capabilities, Resources” and its Moderator is Deputy Minister of Defense Mrs. Augustina Tzvetkova. The first panel includes a three reports and a presentation. The second panel is called “The Investment Policy in the Framework of the New Strategic Concept of NATO and the Required Capabilities of the Allies”. The second panel includes a total of six reports and a presentation and its Moderator is Ret. Maj. Gen. Stefan Dimitrov. Some of the most interesting reports delivered at the conference are the following ones: Defense Policy of the Republic of Bulgaria within the Framework of the New Strategy for National Security and the Strategic Concept of NATO (report by Minister of Defense Anyo Anguelov); The Role of NATO Agencies in Implementing the Intelligent Defense Concept: Multi National Projects, Joint Funding Projects and Integration of National Projects (report by Director of NATO C3 Agency Velizar Shalamanov, PhD); Development of the Armed Forces Capabilities in Second Decade of 21st century” (report by Deputy Chief of Defense Headquarters Maj.
